General information

The electrical protection gloves are designed to protect during work of electrical type against the risks of direct contact with energized parts.
The CERN store offers now a service that allows to supply, follow and control the conformity of the electrical protection gloves on a regular basis by automatic notification; see CERN Store Webpage.

For all new request or destruction of electrical protection gloves, it is MANDATORY to go to the CERN store.
The electrical protection gloves associated to the 18kV cells are made available by EN-EL
TE-EPC group undertakes to make electrical protection gloves available:
- Close to all test areas (high and low voltage) under its responsibility
- Close to all high voltage installation in operation under its responsibility
The electrical protection gloves are made available on site by the building supervisors or by the TSOs.
The members of TE-EPC Stand-by service will be equipped individually with electric gloves.

Keep the gloves in storage boxes, protective bags dedicated for this purpose or in their original packaging.
Do not fold or compress the gloves.
Keep the gloves away from any source of heat and sharp objects.
Keep the gloves away from any sunlight.
Do not store the gloves in cars.

REQUIREMENT! Each user must have received an electrical approval certificate adapted to the interventions and work that he must complete.
Choose the right category of electrical protection gloves according to the voltage:
- Class 00: maximum operating voltage: 500V maximum
- Class 03: maximum operating voltage: 26500V maximum
Use a permanent marker without solvent to write the 1st date of use on the glove.
Check that the date printed on the gloves is not older than a year.
Before each use, check the tightness of the gloves. For any suspicious pair, cut the gloves with a pair of scissors, bring the gloves back to the CERN store and request a new pair.
After use, do not forget to put the gloves in their packaging.
